Gratitude & Appreciation

The sun has blasted through the clouds to share its warmth with the habitats of Earth. Finally I find I'm allowed to free my hands from the leathery confines of the gloves I so often wear these days.
This is gratitude, a feeling that so often in the past I have missed.
As I soak in this warmth I notice my gloves and in them too I discover yet further appreciation.
It's funny how when you find yourself with next to nothing it becomes apparent what true gratitude is. My gloves aren't just some cheap ass accessories to make me look cool. They are my protectors from the dreaded enemy that is frost bite.
My sunglasses aren't just some worthless plastic from China. They are my shield against the explosion of light that reflects off of the snow.
Today I am grateful for what I have for it is all that I have.
Today I am at peace despite my circumstances.
